On demand and catch up

Subtitles

Subtitles work on every platform and device for well over 90% of programmes.

You switch subtitles on and off by clicking on the S or speech bubble button within the video player window. Press PAUSE after any adverts have finished to make the player controls appear.

Note: for Roku sticks and Now TV boxes, you control subtitles from within the device's own settings, not in the ITVX app.

Audio description (AD)

Audio description works on our mobile apps, browsers, Amazon Fire, Apple TV, Samsung TVs, Virgin Media, Chromecast, Sky Q, Sky Glass and Freesat. We're working on adding this feature for the remaining TV platforms.

You switch AD on and off by clicking on the AD button within the video player window (after any adverts have finished).

British Sign Language

British Sign Language (BSL) versions are available from the Categories section in the ‘Signed – BSL’ category on all platforms except for web browsers. Go to the Categories section and scroll to the right of the list to find ‘Signed – BSL’.

All the BSL content that ITVX has available and every new episode of Coronation Street and Emmerdale will be available there.

Live TV and FAST channels on ITVX

You can access our main channels and a number of FAST ("Free Ad-Supported TV") channels on ITVX. One of these channels, called 'ITV Signed', is a collection of great content (eg Broadchurch, Cilla, A Spy Among Friends, Changing Ends) with BSL translation.

Subtitles are available on all live and FAST channels on all platforms except for Freeview and Chromecast. We're working on adding this functionality.

User experience

We're also working hard to make sure ITVX’s user interface is accessible, using appropriate fonts and colour contrast, ensuring you can use the platform without a mouse, and making the platform usable with assistive technology such as screen readers. We will continue to focus on further improvements.
