How do I download a show?
You'll need an ITVX Premium subscription to download shows to your phone or tablet.
On iPhone or iPad
- You'll need to be using an iPhone or iPad running iOS 14 or above to download programmes for offline viewing.
- Make sure you're logged into the account you subscribed to ITVX with, and connected to wifi.
- Select the show you'd like to download and tap the "Download" icon beneath the episode, and your download will begin immediately.
- Each download will be available to watch offline for 7 days.
On Android devices
- You'll need to be using an Android 7.0 or above device to download programmes for offline viewing.
- Make sure you're logged into the account you subscribed to ITVX with, and connected to wifi.
- Select the show you'd like to download and tap the "Download" icon beneath the episode, and your download will begin immediately.
- Each download will be available to watch offline for 7 days.
Managing Downloads
Where can I find my downloads?
You can access your downloads by going to the 'My ITV' section of the app, or by tapping the settings icon in the top right corner of your screen. There you’ll see the Downloads section which will have all the shows you’ve downloaded so far.
How long do downloads last?
When you download a show to your mobile device, it will only be available to watch offline for up to 7 days. After those 7 days you'll need to download it again (as long as it's still available on ITVX).
Once you have started playing the content, you'll have a 48-hour window to finish it before the download expires.
You can see everything you’ve downloaded in the Downloads section of the ITVX app unless you delete them yourself.
How many downloads can I store?
You can have as many downloads as your device can store. If you've run out of storage, an error message will pop up, which means you'll have to free up some space on your device in order to continue downloading.
You'll be able to download up to six shows simultaneously. If you wish to download more, these will queue until they are complete.
Problems with Downloads
Why has my download failed?
There are a few reasons why your download may have failed:
- Poor wifi connection. You can only download shows while you're connected to wifi. If the wifi connection is poor, or you lose wifi completely and try to download on 3G/4G, your download will fail.
- Lack of storage on your device. Your device may not have enough room to complete the download, in which case you will need to free up some space on your device.
- Your device may be too slow to handle the download process.
Why can't I download a show?
Unfortunately, we're not able to make every show available to download on ITVX.
There are a couple of reasons as to why you can't download a particular show:
- It may only be available for 7 days or less
- Due to licensing agreements, some US shows are not available to download (eg Family Guy).
- Please note you’ll only be able to use the download function on an iOS device running iOS 14 or above or an Android device running Android 7.0.
If you want to watch a downloaded show outside the UK, you'll need to be in the UK to download the show to a mobile device first. Then you'll be able to watch your downloaded show for up to 7 days outside of the UK.
Downloads are subject to licensing restrictions and limited to mobile versions of ITVX.
