Some of our programmes are pre-recorded. We can create the subtitles for these shows in advance and have them ready on the Hub when we make the programme available. They are quality checked, and the subtitles should align with the pictures and sound.
Other shows, such as Good Morning Britain or Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, are broadcast live. The subtitles for these programmes are created as they are happening. It takes a moment or two for our expert subtitlers to listen to the soundtrack and generate the subtitles. This delay is between three and eight seconds. As a result, the subtitles will appear after a small delay. For recordings presented on ITV Hub, we re-time these subtitles once the show is complete. This process takes a little time, and you may notice that the subtitles are not available immediately. If that’s the case, please check back again later.
If you spot a pre-recorded show with subtitles that don’t synchronise with the pictures and sound, or any other fault, please let us know. We can be contacted at accessibility@itv.com.
