ITV takes the accessibility of our services very seriously. We are committed to enable all our viewers and consumers to access our services with ease.
We maintain very high levels of subtitling on the Hub service; typically around 90% of shows are subtitled. Nevertheless, some programmes are delivered in a way that does not enable us to provide subtitles. Examples include the news and some sport. We are always looking for ways to add subtitles to these shows. Our goal is to reach 100% subtitling on ITV Hub in the next couple of years.
Subtitles are supported on most of our platforms. We are committed to continuing to extend accessibility across the Hub where possible.
We have agreed with the UK regulator Ofcom that we will provide audio description (AD) for a minimum of 20% of our broadcast programmes. Hub offers you the chance to catch up on both our latest shows and some favourites being shown on ITV 2, 3 and 4. As a result the percentage of AD available across Hub is actually around 25%.
Ofcom expects us to provide sign language translation for 5% of our broadcast programmes. It is our intention to enable all of these to be presented on the Hub by the end of 2021.
